We can also make own memories and traditions. Sometimes just keeping it simple, but full of love can be the best of times! Find that favorite activity, get together and bake cookies or share that favorite recipe you have.
Bag-A-Nut has our favorite Pecan Pie recipe that is easy and delicious. Another fun and delicious recipe is the Sugar and Spice Nuts from my friend Linda at church. You can use any nuts, but it is best with Pecans!
You need to start out with the “Sweet Spice Blend” recipe which will be used to coat the nuts.
Sugar and Spice Nuts
Sweet Spice Blend
- 2 Tbsp. light brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp ground cardamom (expensive spice, you can just add ½ tsp more cinnamon instead!)
- 4 tsp dried ground ginger
- 1 tsp ground nutmeg
- ½ tsp ground cloves
(Combine all above ingredients into a bowl and set aside. Extra can be stored in air tight container for future use.)
- ¾ Cup Sugar
- 1 Tbsp. Sweet Spice Blend
- ¾ tsp salt 1 egg white 1 Tbsp. water
- 1 pound Pecans
Combine Sugar, Sweet Spice Blend, and salt in bowl and set aside. Beat the egg white and water with whisk until foamy, no liquid should remain. Add pecans to egg white mixture until evenly covered. Add to sugar mixture until evenly coated.
Place single layered on buttered (½ stick) 15X10 jelly roll pan. Bake at 275 degrees for 50-55 minutes, stirring at 15 minute intervals. Place immediately on wax paper to cool completely. Store in air tight container.
We here at Bag-A-Nut hope for all a Blessed Christmas and a very Happy New year!
