Walnuts are delicious and versatile. They can be incorporated into many
different recipes and are even delicious on their own for a quick snack. If you’re
interested in learning some new and unique ways of incorporating walnuts into
your diet, look no further.
Walnuts can be baked with a few simple ingredients, like coconut oil, salt,
and cinnamon for an earthy snack. To add a bit of protein and crunch to a salad, add
walnuts on top, either raw or baked. You can easily add a half a cup of walnuts to
any cookie, cake, or brownie recipe for a scrumptious dessert.
You might be surprised to learn walnuts can be a main dish as well. Kimberly
Snyder, CN, created a recipe called Raw Taco Gorilla Wraps, which are promoted by
movie star, Drew Barrymore. These wraps were part of her diet plan for losing
weight after having her baby. Because they’re paired with collard greens and
infused with seasonings, they are filling, satisfying, and provide a great deal of
nutrition. They are also super easy and fast to make! Below is the recipe for 5-6
wraps.
Ingredients:
2 cups raw walnuts
1 tbsp. ground cumin
1 ½ tsp. chili powder
1 ½ tsp. ground coriander
Pinch cayenne pepper
2 tbsp. tamari soy sauce
6 large collard greens, stems removed and 2 inches trimmed from the bottom
Salsa
Directions:
Blend the walnuts in a food processor or blender for a few seconds. Add the
cumin, chili powder, coriander, cayenne, and tamari and blend until everything is
mixed but the walnuts are still chunky. Fold the mixture inside the collard green
leaves like a burrito. Serve with salsa.
Walnuts are great in a variety of different dishes and these are just a few.
You could even experiment with making your own unique walnut recipes. Pick up
your walnuts and give it a try!
